So I was looking at my pictures and saw the two marathons I ran. The first was two years ago, the St. George, and the second, was the Top of Utah... I really started feeling sad at how out of shape I am in now and how IN SHAPE I was then. I remember how accomplished I felt running 26.2 miles... So, for my own sake I am going to recommit to running so next year 2010 I can post my 3rd marathon. So, Dave and Meghan get ready to run St. George or Ogden next year... Me and my bro. Dave
What do they say? When a situation gives you lemons, make lemonaid? Last night for FHE the kids wanted to go pick the different color fall leaves; Sam and I told them we'd go tuesday night because they weren't done with their home work. So, as promised, we did just that...after Sam got home we headed up the canyon. The weather was turning sour but we decided to go anyway. We headed up Ogden Canyon and went through Trappers loop. The leaves were beautiful. However, we couldn't find a place to picnic and by the time we got near home we got caught in horrible traffic so we decided to picnic in the car. The kids enjoyed it even though we didn't get out and pick their fall leaves. Maybe this weekend we'll try again... So here's to the car picnic....
Nanny threw a birthday party for Grandpa this past Sunday. Everyone was there minus Mike's family, come back home Mike and Jamie, we miss you. It was a lot of fun and the food was great!!! Happy Birthday Dear Grandpa....
Dang dad...you're getting so old your candles are going to set off the smoke alarms!
Hadlie's new thing to do at recess this year is the bar. We went to back to school night and Hadlie showed off her skills on the bar. She does the froggy, bowling ball, and all sorts of tricks. I have no idea what all of them are but she and her friends are pretty good on the bar. They love to challenge each other to learn new tricks. I think I would puke going round and round like they do.
So this just cracks me up...this is the great thing about being a girl and wearing head bands...Paizlie is learning early to play peek a boo. Maybe in 3 or 4 months she can use her hands.
So I have had this new shower curtain and rug for over 6 months with the intent of re-doing the kids bathroom. I just had to save enough money to get towels...I finally did it and now it's done; it's about time!!! I do have to say I think the bathroom looks great. However, the blue radiates into the hall...so it makes my hall look loco but I'm glad to finally have it finished.
We went to see our new nephew yesterday. We all sat outside and enjoyed holding Tyson. All the kids played as the family visited. Grandpa, Aiden, and Tyson.
Hadlie and Tyson.
Paizlie and Tyson; these two are three months apart.
Sam and I are products of the Spanish Fork Singles Ward. When we met, Sam was the ward mission leader and I was a stake missionary. We dated for 3 months then I served a mission. After I returned home we married in November 1999. We have four beautiful children: Hadlie, Daxton, Tage, and Paizlie. Our family is growing bigger and better everyday. Since we don't live close to our immediate families we hope this blog will capture our memories we are making and allow our families and friends to watch us grow and progress everyday.
Hadlie
Hadlie is 10 years old. Hadlie is our competitive child. She is very athletic and loves a challenge. She will keep trying something until she gets it right. She loves to play soccer, tumble, play the piano, and go to school. Hadlie is also very compassionate and nurturing. She is moms big help! She gives us lots of love and lots of attitude. Hadlie is also very smart. She was accepted into the gifted and talented class at her school a couple of years ago.
Daxton
Daxton is 7 years old. He is our perfectionist. He works on something until it looks just so. He runs on his own time schedule. He is very anaylitical. We think he'll follow in his Grandpa Owen's and Uncle Dave's footsteps one day and become an Engineer. Daxton loves to play with his friends, play baseball, and play piano. He loves playing the Wii. He's very good at it. Daxton knows how to do things right: he starts out slow until he figures all the in's and out's then he cruises through the task. Daxton loves his mom. He and Jen have a strong bond. He loves school. He's a good listener and a great big brother to Tage.
Tage
Tage is 5 years old. He is our comedian. He is constantaly cracking us up; he is our breath of fresh air sometimes. He has a love for life and a strong spirit. He loves to play with his friends and be like one of the "big" kids. He enjoys riding his bike, playing the wii, and swinging. Tage is his dad's buddie. He enjoys spending time with Sam. He also loves his little sister, he loves to show her new things.
Paizlie
Paizlie is 2 years old. She is our peacemaker. She has brought alot of happiness and joy into our lives. She is always happy. She loves to play with her stuff dogs, her babies, and her brothers and sister. She mimic's her siblings all the time. She wants to be a big kid too.Paizllie is a 100% grandpa girl. She LOVES, and I mean, LOVES her two grandpa's. She makes me open up our blog almost everyday so she can see pictures of her two grandpa's. She has a very sweet spirit and nature about her. We are so glad she came to our family.
My Dad's A Hero
I, Jen, illustrated this book for two friends of mine, Jewel Armstrong and Rebecca Christensen, whom wrote the book. Together, we self published it in 2007. We have been sending it to military families and military schools around the nation to help children with deployed parents. Our book perviously won the 2007 Golden Quill Award from the American Authors Association and the 2007 Don Hanson Award for Creativity from the Military Writers Society of America. We now have learned that Scholastic Books is now going to carry it for the next 7 years in their book order magazines. We are very excited about it. It's so awesome! So watch for it when your kids bring home their book orders from school. You can also get it on Amazon.com.
